HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!?!
Hey folks, just a quick F.Y.I.: For the people who don't know the members of this band, read on to the bio's and you'll understand the incredible combined amount of talent we have here. For those of you who know the players, or have heard of them, please read on.

I have been trying to convince this group of players, (whom I refer to as 'The Ultimate House Band'!), to commit to staying together on a full time basis for several years, and actually working on Rohn & Jay for more like 10 years! But between touring with nationally known players, solo recording projects, studio sessions in New York City, etc. it was just not possible.

F.U. Jazz Boy

  • Jay Rowe (keys)
  • Rohn Lawrence (guitar)
  • Timmy Maia (vocals)
  • Dave Livolsi (bass)
  • T. Sommerville (drums)

Well - it finally happened! THEY HAVE COMMITTED!!! F.U.Jazz Boy* has teamed up full time with Bobby Fant, owner of Hot Roc Productions**, and are here for good!

The Boys have been busy in our studio working on an original C.D., as well as perfecting some of your favorite cover tunes for any private affair. I bill them as 'The Ultimate House band'. These guys separately are incredible musicians. Together - the chemistry makes them even better. Seeing this band live is an experience you will not forget.

So, if you DON'T want a so-called 'wedding band', but you DO want a band who has deep soul, amazing talent, incredible presence, and is just a ton of fun, look no further. You have found them. F.U. Jazz Boy*.

    Rohn Lawrence

A native of New Haven, Connecticut, Lawrence doesn't even remember the day he wasn't playing guitar-- something he's been doing since the age of two-and-a-half. "My first instrument was a plastic Mickey Mouse guitar," he admits, "on which my parents swear I was playing real songs."

As a youngster, he cultivated his own concepts by listening to his musical heroes--including non-guitarists such as Count Basie and Lionel Hampton. He played acoustic guitar through elementary school, began building guitars before he turned nine, got his first Stratocaster at age eleven, and switched to electric guitar exclusively when he was about thirteen. Playing in New Haven Funk bands such as "Good News" and "The Lift" (which included saxophonist Marion Meadows), Lawrence soon developed into a first-call axeman for several of the most active players on the contemporary music scene. He has continued to perform with Meadows, while also cultivating associations with other notables like George Duke, Diane Reeves, Jonathan Butler, Alex Bugñon, Freddie Jackson and Najee.

    Quotes

    • "Rohn Lawrence is a great guitarist. I worked with him during the summer of '91 on tour with Dianne Reeves and Najee, and found Rohn to be the consummate professional." - George Duke
    • "Rohn has the natural ability to attract people of all walks of life and taste with his music. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play to sold out crowds in Katmandu, Nepal. " - Alex Bugñon

    Timmy Maia

Timmy grew up in Waterbury, CT singing since he was a toddler. As a teenager he began honing his skills as a member of a Gospel Quartet and in various local clubs. He has subsequently been a staff singer for Sony Records, has had an original composition on "90210" as well as a music video on BET T.V. Timmy's vast studio experience has found him in recording studios all over the country. He is currently completing his second CD of original music.

Although he loves the studio process, Timmy thrives on live performance and the energy of a live audience. Besides local venues, he has opened for the likes of Freddie Jackson, Phyllis Hyman and Brian McKnight, just to name a few. Timmy and Jay Rowe have been working together on various projects since 1998.

    T. Sommerville

Trever is a local guy growing up in Shelton, CT. He is a music major whom Rohn 'stumbled upon' playing in a local club. Trevor is the youngest member of the band. But don't let that fool you. He's has been scouted by many national acts for his incredible talent. His play style and personality help round out this band and has helped bring it to the level of play they're at now. He has played with the likes of Marion Meadows and Special EFX. As well as 'sat in' with a trio of 'Tower of Power' players for a fundraiser for bassist Rocco Prestia.
